About
Born in 1987 in the Lyon region, Jeannie Abert is a ceramic artist specializing in cyanotype and clay sculpture. Based in Lamastre, Ardèche, her work draws inspiration from nature, which profoundly influences its forms and textures.
A graduate of the Saint-Étienne School of Art and Design, she continued her training with a Master II in Photography at the National School of Photography in Arles (2013). Her artistic journey began with an exploration of the image through experimental techniques such as cyanotype and collage.
In 2018, during a creative residency at the Vallauris School of Ceramic Art, she discovered ceramics. Her works are born from a sensitive dialogue with clay. More than a simple creative process, Jeannie lets herself be guided by the material, exploring its possibilities, its resistances, and its intuitions. Each unique piece testifies to this organic and instinctive relationship, where finesse and movement emerge naturally through her interactions with the clay.
At the same time, she developed her practice of cyanotype by constructing an iconographic corpus imbued with symbolism and poetry.
Approach
"All of my work is driven by a particular interest in the plant, mineral, and organic worlds teeming with fascinating forms that echo my research. Passionate about the plasticity of clay, I develop a set of unique ceramic pieces crafted through modeling. Movement, finesse, and balance play run through these sculptures."
